Typically the bathroom isn’t the first space you would think of decorating and organizing. While bathrooms are usually on the smaller room side, they still have to cater to lots of storage needs. These apartment bathroom ideas for storage will make your life easier by keeping everything in its place while still being a bathroom that looks fresh and decorated.
This post is all about apartment bathroom storage ideas that will make your life easier.
1. Organize products by use
Probably the most important thing about bathroom storage is knowing where everything is. The hardest thing to do is have a cupboard or cabinet filled with products and have to stand there sifting through them all to find exactly what you need. Waste of time!
My favourite part of my bathroom is my bathroom closet. It stores all my products, towels, bed sheets, and cleaning supplies. To help my OCD not go crazy, I went out and bought multiple bins in various sizes and categorized everything I have into them. To make it even further organized I separated products I use into subcategories – hair / skin care / make up / teeth / bath / toilettes / etc.
Now I can go into my closet with my eyes closed and I would know exactly where to find everything.
2. Clear dividers in vanity drawers
Sadly in my bathroom my vanity does not have drawers, but if it did I would definitely be adding clear dividers. Adding the dividers would have the same effect as organizing products by use – you know exactly where to find things. Let’s be real, drawers become messy very quickly! Clear dividers would help keep your drawers organized and not end up a mess after opening and closing the drawer a bunch of times.
3. Label containers
Using labels makes me the biggest OCD organizing nerd ever, but it just looks soooo good!! An easy way to DIY your own labels is:
- Use a label maker.
- Buy labels at the store and use the printer to print off labels.
- Buy labels at the store and use a sharpie and write.
I’ve used all these methods and the best thing that works I find is the label maker. Printer labels don’t have enough “stick” to them. They slowly peel off.
4. Hide feminine products in a cute container or box
No one really likes to have feminine products out on display in their bathroom for all to see. Placing feminine products in a cute container or box, keeps it out of sight and adds a touch of decor element.
I personally use a decorative box with lid from Michaels and it is so cute!
5. Use a tray on top of toilet for storage
Placing a tray on top of the toilet for storage is more of a decorative way to store items. These items you would want to be pretty and functional. Some items would be:
- Potted plant
- Candle
- Air freshener
- Lotion
6. Have a designated area for all extra / back stock products
At the bottom of my bathroom closet I have a bin that is home to all my extra products or back stock products. As I get close to running low on an item, I typically will go buy it and place it in my back stock bin until it has fully ran out. Then I don’t have to worry about running out in the middle of trying to use the product.
7. Toilet paper holder
If you have a smaller sized bathroom, a great idea is finding a toilet paper holder that has the added bonus of storage underneath. These toilet paper holder stands can store all those extra rolls.
8. Garbage bags stored in bottom of garbage bin
I don’t know if this is a common thing that everyone already knows. When I’m taking out the garbage, I hate the fact of then having to find the garbage bags in the cupboard and walk back over to the garbage can to put it in. I know, super dumb and lazy reasoning. Instead, I put my extra garbage bags at the bottom of my garbage can, then put the “in-use” bag over top. This has the added bonus of saving space in the bathroom cupboard or closet for more important items.
9. Organize towels by size
Group your towels, hand towels and face cloths into individual piles not only to tell the difference in size but also keep them together with their towel friends.
10. Organize bed sheets by set
As mentioned above, my bathroom closet stores all my products, towels, bed sheets, and cleaning supplies. For bed sheets you could simply fold them all and pile them high in your bathroom closet. This uses the storage space to the max but isn’t very appealing to the eyes. I like to store all my bed sheets by set – top sheet, fitted sheet and pillows all in one bundle. It looks nice, plus makes it easy to just grab off the shelf to make my bed.
